Our position on Transport Policies

April 23, 2026

This is the second of three posts outlining the position of Reform UK Godalming and Ash branch on issues relevant to the May 7th local elections.

The Liberal Democrats want to “make it easier and safer to walk, cycle and use public transport.” They don’t say it, but they want to make life harder for car drivers, with their favoured 20mph limits, greenways and the like being no different from the crazy policies of Surrey County Council under the Tories. They fail to appreciate that Waverley is a rural area, in which a car is all but an essential for anyone who lives, or needs to go, outside the narrow public transport corridors.

Reform is the party of common sense. We recognize that the car is an essential for very many people, and that it is high time to stop the victimization of drivers, that has been favoured for more than 30 years by Tories, Liberal Democrats and Greens alike.
