Postie Mate

A recent conversation by e-mail with David Meacock, inventor of the “Postie Mate” leafleting tool, and a Reform local election candidate! https://davidmeacock.com/postiemate.html

Hi David,

I am campaign manager for my local branch of the Reform UK party in Surrey, so I do quite a bit of leafleting. Last week I was helping out a neighbouring branch with an upcoming local by-election, and they were using your invention, the Postie-Mate. It’s brilliant!

And not just because it removes the dog-bite-from-behind-the-letterbox problem. (A friend’s wife, leafleting for a charity, had the end of her finger bitten off). But last week, in my first encounter with the Postie-Mate, I was able to deliver leaflets using my right arm, which I broke back in January and which had only been out of the brace for two weeks. Without it, I would have had to deliver them left-handed, and for a right-handed person, the technique I have used in the past wouldn’t have been easy to reproduce in mirror image.

You didn’t say that the Postie-Mate allows you to deliver two leaflets in one go… but it does. We had a county council and borough council by-election together, and we were able to deliver both leaflets in one operation. Another selling point.

Another thing you don’t say is that with many older inward-opening letterboxes, you don’t need to use the other hand at all. That saves blood injuries from the back-lash when the letter-box snaps back quicker than the holding hand can react.

Thanks, David. I suspect that as an entrepreneur you have Reform leanings, and I hope the political competition don’t learn about your invention too quickly! 😊 You can expect an order from our branch in due course…

Cheers, Neil

Thanks Neil for your very thoughtful review.

I’ve always seen Postie Mate as an essentially politically neutral issue since dogs don’t ask whether you’re leafleting for charity, business or for a political party, never mind which political flag , , ,

I stood for Reform in Chalfont St Peter, and out of all the Chesham & Amersham Branch candidates came the closest to knocking the out-of-touch Conservatives off their Ivory Tower perches!

Just as both seat belts and crash helmets started out as luxurious extras but are now even standard on coaches & used by pedal cyclists respectively, one day Postie Mate will become the standard leafleting tool.  Meanwhile I wish the Reform hierarchy would get the advantage by asking one of the party’s major patrons to equip Reform leafleters to turn us into the most formidable and efficient political leafleting army the UK has ever seen.  Hopefully the recent changes will prove to be more pragmatic.  A Robert Jenrick supporter purchased 1,000 in Tory blue for their Conference last year, so if they can see it why can’t our top brass?!  As time is getting short before the conference season, if Reform ordered 5K that’d not only equip all 400 branches with a dozen each, but might even mean I wouldn’t be able to do any other big orders, as it takes a week to get the colourant and then we can only do 150 a day because of the hand-assembly & finishing aspect of its UK manufacture: 5K would likely take 40 working days so we’d be up against it even now.

Would you be OK with me forwarding this exchange on to others at the top, please?

Meanwhile, as a thank you for your generous review, I’d be happy to extend my special offer of 26 for £250 (incl. p&p) on the basis of a direct transfer to my account I can give you when you confirm.

Looking forward to hearing from you again,

Bw,  David.
