Viewpoint 1
How do you feel about the area-wide proposals for Farncombe?
Strongly Against
Are you supportive of the proposals to reduce the speed limit to 20mph in Farncombe?
No
Do you support implementation of traffic calming measures? (e.g. raised tables)
Strongly Against
What other suggestions do you have in relation to traffic calming? (e.g. raised tables, speed cushions)
The current speed bumps are in a terrible state, forcing you onto the opposite side of the road into oncoming traffic in order to manoeuvre over them evenly without ruining your car tracking and suspension. Most people don’t even drive 30mph through Farncombe, due to the volume of cars, pot holes, speed bumps, and train crossings – there is no issue with people excessively speeding. Therefore this funding should not be wasted on Farncombe ‘just because it’s there’; it is still our precious tax payers money. Make the roads safer by fixing the potholes and resurfacing roads more regularly. Pavements are not meant for bicycles – at least they weren’t when I took my cycling proficiency test. It’s unsafe for pedestrians. If cyclists rode on the road, it would slow your traffic down naturally.
Do you support improvement to accessibility through dropped kerbs and tactile paving?
Strongly Against
Do you have any other suggestions for accessibility improvements?
More disabled parking spaces. More short-term (free) parking spots so locals can use the shops and support the local economy. Tactile paving is very bumpy and destabilising for people using mobility scooters – smooth would be better.
Do you support a pedestrian wayfinding scheme being implemented in Farncombe? (Following the same style as the Guildford Town Centre scheme)
Strongly Against
Do you have any other suggestions for the pedestrian wayfinding scheme? (e.g. locations, destinations)
Waste of money. It’ll just get graffiti on it. They also create obstacles on the pavement for people and bikes to bump into. Farncombe isn’t a town, with points of interest, people know their way around and signage just creates clutter. Less is more.
Do you have any feedback on the area-wide proposals for Farncombe?
It’s very obvious this proposal is being implemented as part of the UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 11) to create 15-minute cities / smart cities and shift people away from cars, which I do not agree or consent to. This is an absolute waste of tax payers money. We did not vote for this.

All of these, also investigate low traffic zones which will keep residential streets safer. Race tables, speed cushions absolutely the more the better.

Office shared cycle racks in the street so people can up to take their bike for local journeys and not The Car. Also need low-cost secure cycle parking at rail stations and in the town centre begin making it a no brainer for people to take their bike.

Needs to be across the whole of the County, I live in Guildford and the road outside my house is 30 miles an hour. There’s no need. I live in the town centre..

Do more go faster, build and people will come.

One side wants freedom to do what they need to do. The other… wants control. Which is which?
